Thanks to a post by Cindi Barker I now understand how Trash the Dress works. I like the first shot best with the neutral colors on the wall. With that said, I hope the power was actually dead going to the electrical boxes on the wall.

The shot in complete shade does look a little flat as far as the light and also your two subjects look a little far apart to me, they are at the edges of the frame and seem a little disconnected with all that space between them, but the second more close-up image with the backlighting looks great to me. I am sure a true "Strobist" would add 15 flashes or something like that, but I like it with the natural light! Maybe a large reflector would have added some fill light too...you just need to grow a couple more arms.

By all accounts it's a true story. The best views here are supposed to be early in the morning. I never got to find out as I was always in Canyonlands early. I stopped here about 10:00am one morning and that was too late for good light.

I was in Las Vegas in 2006 and my wife had me take a photo trip by myself to Moab. I was there for 3 days travelling Canyonlands, Arches and Dead Horse Point. Canyonlands was my favorite, Dead Horse the least. Part of that was not being able to buy a pass for the 3 days I was there. They required paying each day you visited.

The one comment I heard over and over in Canyonlands by people who had been to the Grand Canyon was "this is better than the Grand Canyon". I've never been there but I think the accessibility of everything is what puts it over the top.

By the way, I stood in the same spot you did at Dead Horse Point for your photo. Nice series of shots. The last one , with the small aperture producing the starburst, is my favorite. I like Turret Arch too.

I couldn't believe it when I got back from Dallas! He hosed everyone off and dried them. He told me I might have a little detail work to do...but actually they looked pretty good....only Petey with a little mud here and there. Courtney absolutely loves this photo!

Very nice! The starburst in the last one is so cool --- did you do that in post processing, or was it a filter, or natural beams? That is surprising to me that you think it is more stunning than the Grand Canyon, I really need to go see the Moab area some day.
